Dear Evan:
I was very pleased and fascinated to read your father's and your book, "The Miracle of Subdue - The Secret of Breaking Horses Quickly and Safely" and review your father's method of "subduing" and training horses. It is a unique book and one of a kind!
As a veterinarian who grew up on a farm and cattle ranch working with all kinds of cow horses and draft horses, then going through Junior College and Veterinary School and spending over 25 years in equine veterinary practice, I appreciate your father's ability, experience, and knowledge of horse psychology and training. The information is practical and vital, especially as he mentions over and over injuries by "safe" horses. I have also known many people to be injured by horses, especially "kid broke" and pet horses not properly subdued and trained.
In retrospect, I could wish that the thousands of horses I was called upon to vaccinate, treat, and do surgery on had been trained by your father's techniques. It would have made my job much easier and more pleasant, not to mention much safer.
A horse is one of the most unpredictable and dangerous animals if it hasn't been "subduedd" and properly trained.
I highly recommend this book to all horse lovers and especially all horse owners, trainers and riders.

Dr. Evan Dwain Porter PhD graduated from the Collage of Charleston and received his Masters and Doctorate degrees from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. He was a Biology Professor for 30 years. He returned to Arizona in 1975 and lived near his father and was able to work with him with the subdue process with many horses. Because the process is not well known, he felt he should write a book about the subdue process. His father wrote the book and it was left mostly dormant for many years. Dr Porter felt that the information should be available to everyone who loves horses.
